The Honourable Attorney General Aiyaz Sayed Khaiyum was on hand to formally launch the Young Entrepreneurs Council (YEC) at the Tanoa International Hotel on the 25th of June. The YEC will be the federation's eighth council, focused on providing entrepreneurs between the ages of 18 years to 40 years with the platform to innovatively influence change at policy level to support the aspirations of young entrepreneurs and potential entrepreneurs.

The YEC with the support of the International Labour Organisation (ILO) conducted a field visit during the national public holiday on the 24th of June, led by the acting director of the ILO Mr. Satoshi Sasaki. The newly elected president of the YEC Mr. Shivam Reddy, National Youth Council President Mr. William Nayacatabu, FCEF Chief Executive Mr. Nesbitt Hazelman and IHRDP Manager Mr. Marika Naiyaga were among the delegation that visited 3 youth enterprises that were affected by TC Winston along the western division.

Recruitment drives and awarness about YEC were conducted as the delegation stopped over the three sites that were visited. The first general meeting for the west members and election of the vice chair was conducted before the launch, Ms. Moira Solvalu John was elected as vice chair.
