Importance of Professional Advice
“Getting professional help for a start-up entrepreneur is very important.”
This was highlighted by Avikesh Kumar who is the sole entrepreneur for Kesh Bee Productions in Navua.
While attending the FCEF/FBDRC/USAID Climate Ready, Business Continuity Plan (BCP) training at the Pearl Resort in Pacific Harbour, Mr Kumar stated that the training has made him think about budgeting when it comes to the recovery stage after a natural disaster.
“This is quite a critical workshop as it allowed me to think about the importance of a business continuity plan and budgeting after a cyclone.
“The honey industry every year gets affected by natural disasters but lucky enough, not much damage was done to my hives in the past few cyclones that we have been hit with. Since honey has a lot of beneficial components in boosting one’s immune system, Covid-19 boosted my honey sales as people were trying to get healthier and would prefer to buy a lot of honey,” said Mr Kumar.
The BCP training that was conducted by Fiji Commerce and Employers Federation trainer Waisea Vosa had come to the people of Navua at a much needed time as they were just hit by two cyclones in a matter of two months.
Shaberena Nisha who runs a tailoring business called Shaberena’s Clothing felt heartbroken as most of her sewing materials had been damaged during the cyclone and this workshop gave her an idea on how to prepare well before hand to avoid such incidents.
“I feel for a growing business like me it is important to get a professional’s help in terms of helping my business grow.
“The workshop has given me an opportunity to broaden my horizons in growing my business and making it a bit bigger,” said Ms Nisha.
