US Embassy gives grant to WEBC
The U.S. Embassy have shown its continuous support towards the women in Fiji by extending their Academy for Women Entrepreneurs (AWE) program by giving a grant of $23,000 USD.
The grant was given to the Women Entrepreneurs Council (WEBC) which is supported by Fiji Commerce and Employers Federation (FCEF) and the Makoi Women’s Vocational Centre.
The two organizations will be responsible for guiding women business owners through a training program which will consists of sessions in vital areas of entrepreneurship and business management.
U.S. Charge’ d’ Affaires Tony Greubel said the benefits of the AWE program will continue long after the program ends, as it will provide the participants an opportunity to apply skillsets learned through AWE to their own businesses and become part of a robust network of women business leaders.
He further acknowledged FCEF’s support towards WEBC and stated that WEBC will manage the grant.
“This grant will expand our efforts to build the capacities of local businesswomen and assist them on their journey to success,” said Mr Greubel.
WEBC Chair Eseta Nadakuitavuki stressed that this journey started in August 2020 and they have learnt a lot as many of these women possess great ideas about their business.
“We’d like to be known as a trend setter and I am glad we are achieving that. As an instructor I am pleased with the way these women have performed,” said Ms Nadakuitavuki.
