ACTIVITES OF FCEF

Fiji Commerce & Employers Federation (FCEF) initiates activities that respond to Fiji’s evolving economic and business environment. These initiatives are designed to address emerging challenges, strengthen private sector participation, and support sustainable business performance across industries.

FCEF programs serve multiple objectives—from gathering and consolidating employer concerns to inform policy development, to facilitating dialogue on shared economic challenges and building partnerships with government agencies, development partners, and stakeholders. Through these collaborations, FCEF works to identify practical solutions that support businesses while advancing the broader interests of Fiji’s economy.

By aligning business insights with national priorities, FCEF programs and activities help create a constructive platform for engagement, policy influence, and coordinated action—ensuring that private sector perspectives contribute meaningfully to economic resilience, growth, and long-term development.

Fiji Enterprise Engine

The Fiji Commerce & Employers Federation, in collaboration with the Australian Government-funded Market Development Facility (MDF), has launched the “Fiji Enterprise Engine” or “FEE” program. This groundbreaking initiative establishes the Pacific region’s first semi-commercial, private-sector-led Business Accelerator Program specifically designed for MSMEs (Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises). FEE offers comprehensive training in essential areas such as Strategic Management, Human Resources Management, Accounting and Financial Management, and Marketing. Additionally, participants benefit from personalized guidance provided by Local Business Coaches (LBCs) and various networking opportunities. The success of the FEE initiative effectively showcases how tailored support and services can fuel the rapid growth of small businesses in Fiji.

Employment Law Reforms

The Fiji Commerce & Employers Federation (FCEF) participates in the Employment Relations Advisory Board (ERAB) as the collective voice of its members and the wider private sector. Through ERAB, FCEF represents employer perspectives on employment relations, labour law reforms, and workplace policies, ensuring that business realities, operational challenges, and economic impacts are clearly articulated at the national level. By consolidating member feedback and engaging in constructive tripartite dialogue with government and worker representatives, FCEF advocates for balanced, practical, and sustainable employment frameworks that support business growth, productivity, and fair employment practices in Fiji.

National Wages Review

Fiji Commerce & Employers Federation (FCEF) is a triparty at the Wages Council to represent the interests and perspectives of employers in national wage-setting processes. Through consultations, submissions, and sector-specific discussions, FCEF consolidates member feedback and provides evidence-based input on minimum wage reviews, wage orders, and related employment cost considerations. By highlighting business realities, productivity levels, and economic conditions—particularly the impact on MSMEs—FCEF advocates for balanced and sustainable wage reviews that support fair remuneration while safeguarding business viability and employment in Fiji.
