Written Submission to FCCC on EFL Electricity Tariff Determination

January 13, 2026

The Fiji Commerce & Employers Federation (FCEF) has lodged a comprehensive written submission to the Fiji Competition and Consumer Commission (FCCC) regarding Energy Fiji Limited’s (EFL) proposed electricity tariff increases. The submission was formally presented during an exclusive consultation requested by FCEF for its members and partners, reflecting the collective concerns of businesses across multiple sectors.

In its submission, FCEF calls on FCCC to set aside the 19 December 2025 tariff determination and to recommence the regulatory review process in full, citing seven critical deficiencies related to consultation, transparency, financial scrutiny, investment efficiency and economic impact. The submission is informed by member feedback, economic analysis and a review of publicly available financial and operational information, and supports necessary investment in Fiji’s electricity infrastructure — provided it is based on transparent, lawful and least-cost regulatory decision-making that protects both consumers and the wider economy.
